CaraOwner & Social Media Strategist: Cara Mandart

I am the owner and social media strategist for BLACK DOG Social Media. I started managing social media for Virginia Beach Animal Control when I realized the animals had no voice. My first dog was Crash, (yes, named after Dave Mathews Band song!) a black lab who broke my heart when he died a few years ago after a battle with bone cancer. He taught me about authenticity and loyalty, which is weaved throughout my work in social media. (I now happily live with my husband, son and yellow lab Striker and rescue black lab mix Otis.)

My bio? Well, I am a wife, a mother, animal rescue advocate, and social media Kool-Aid drinker.  After earning a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut, I began my career path in real estate lending. For the past thirteen years I was a manager at both Prudential Relocation and Crye-Leike Relocation where years of involvement in sales, marketing, efficient operations, and unsurpassed customer service was put to perfect use as a social media business and non-profit strategist. I found that being uncontrollably chatty and inquisitive leads to great relationships, thus my niche is showing people how to find their voice and use social media small talk to gain exposure the right way.  I am also the Founder, Social Media Club Virginia Beach chapter (SMC is world’s largest social media organization with 160 chapters worldwide)

I am an advisor to a private school as well as to non-profits. I will offer a strategy session with any non-profit who is looking for social media advice, for FREE.  Know anyone who needs to connect with others to advance a cause? Don’t hesitate to contact me in the form below!
