Personally I fiddled with it, and I don't see it bringing anything new to the table. The second problem is what you talked about, google is a datamining company and getting that level of access to our life, might as well mean we let them put a chip in our hands so we can inform the world what we're doing/thinking 24/7

Great point about writing about passion and then it won't seem like a writing task at all! Passion can mean things that interest you, things you are knowledgeable about or even things you see and disagree with!

Blogging can be an art. Another good thing is create a niche your passionate about and write about it. It's difficult to consistently write good blogs about things you're not passionate about. It flows more natural and that's what people want to read.

Cara,
May I please suggest to your readers an organization called World Vision? If you don't already have a favored charity that does international relief work, I highly recommend them. Charity Navigator (a great tool!) gives them excellent marks for keeping administrative costs low, meaning more of your dollar goes to actual services.
World Vision has worked in Haiti for 30 years and already has some 370 staff in country. Your gift now will help distribute life-saving relief supplies – including food, clean water, blankets, and tents — to children and families devastated by the earthquake and aftershocks in Haiti.
You can donate here: http://donate.worldvision.org/OA_HTML/xxwv2ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?funnel=dn&item=1958776&section=10324&go=item&
