Comfy in your chair right now? Take a glimpse at whats happening right now on Haiti, through eyes of those tweeting from Haiti. I am in awe of how Twitter can be used for such social good.

There are people looking for others. People depicting their surroundings. People crying out asking for us to give to familiar organizations ASAP. So, stop what you are doing (tell your boss I said so) and search the twitterverse to connect, help others connect and for Haiti’s sake, to GIVE. (sigh, its hard to read these tweets from Haiti yet I need to.)

If you’re not on Twitter, this is a good day to start. Try This:

1) Go to Twitter.com, add your name, a photo under settings.

2)Follow some people (search people for ones you already know. use Twellow.com or use search.twitter.com (use advanced search) to connect with #haiti or anyone of interest to you.

3) You don’t need to have any major interaction. Just listen at first.

4) Here is an important guy to follow right now, you may already know him as Wylcef Jean. Here’s a recent tweet: “@wyclef If you wish to donate to the earthquake relief effort please visit www.yele.org and make a contribution. Thank You please RT 4 minutes ago from UberTwitter”

Being digitally connected to the globe in a time of crisis is a powerful thing. I promise you’ll feel good about it.

What is your experience in using Twitter for social good?  What are your thoughts on Haiti earthquake relief  and tweets like the ones below?

    Cara,
May I please suggest to your readers an organization called World Vision? If you don’t already have a favored charity that does international relief work, I highly recommend them. Charity Navigator (a great tool!) gives them excellent marks for keeping administrative costs low, meaning more of your dollar goes to actual services.
World Vision has worked in Haiti for 30 years and already has some 370 staff in country. Your gift now will help distribute life-saving relief supplies – including food, clean water, blankets, and tents — to children and families devastated by the earthquake and aftershocks in Haiti.
    You can donate here: http://donate.worldvision.org/.....m&
