Where is the most unusual place you have ever posted to Facebook or Twitter? The bathroom? In line at the store? In Bed? During a job interview? While driving? In the ambulance? During your mugshot?
How about the Intensive Care Unit?
Phone Rings. “Cara, Its Dad. ..Dr says it bad… What are your last words to me?” ( I thought people only say that in movies!)
Next thing I know I am on a plane, then head straight to the I.C.U. Doctor says I might be planning a funeral this week.
I’m speechless. (a rarity for me)
Every normal day I talk, talk , and talk via Facebook and Twitter. Never miss a day. But this is serious. Too personal to share?
One second goes by.
My thumb starts twitching. I just have to let them know! Oh, thank God for my Blackberry. And Selective Twitter Status.
So I’m sitting there in SunCoast Hospital I.C.U. You know those gray depressing rooms with old magazines and tissue boxes? I look up and there’s a sign. (No, not from God. A real one on the wall) “Free WIFI!” I had my phone, but still, I was thrilled to see this important way for people to stay connected at the most crucial moments.
I share a personal post. Sigh. I need to tell my Facebook and Twitter family. Its like I’m a child again and I need to tell my mom where I am. I am so moved by the supportive responses. It was therapy to post updates as the week went on.
This is what social media is about: relationships in good times and in bad.

I Tweet all day, nearly 24/7. It never stops. What HAS to stop is while driving. I know, it’s terrible. Read something today about how it’s like driving drunk. I guess that’s kind of true, and made me shake my head. No more tweeting, FB, wordpress, texting while I drive! At least until the morning….
