Pssst! Want to hear something you can make small talk about?

I just heard that The Green Train Project is full steam ahead! It’s a series of environmental awareness concerts (founded by Bob Wolf ) kicking off in April 2010. I can’t wait! Go Green? Learn how to reduce your carbon footprint in simple ways? Sounds great. A-list concerts? Now we’re talking! Come back here soon and I’ll list the huge names of who will be on board.

Green does not have to be only for the home:

It gets better. It’s really about a train! Major musicians will be hopping on and off a biodiesel, solar powered train during a 10-week , 28 state cross country journey from Portland, Oregon to Washington D.C.  In between the music, you’ll hear from athletes, artists, writers and media professionals speaking about easy environmental choices for a greener planet.

Green does not have to be expensive:

The Green Train will teach three messages for sustainable change .  Here’s my take on them:

Reduce Water: Do you really need to run water while you brush your teeth?

Reduce Energy: Use energy efficient light bulbs. Yes, those squiggly ones.

Reduce Electricity: Unplug the coffee maker! It’s plugged in all week but you only use it for 10 minutes per day…or maybe not at all since you go to Starbucks.

Green does not have to be political:

http://www.greentrainglobal.org was inspired by the whistle stop tours of early presidential political campaigns. Here’s the magic, this is not a political event. Environmental simplicity doesn’t have to be about who’s right, left or in the middle. It’s simply  about nature, unity, and getting involved. Oh, and amazin’, soul stirrin’ rockin’ music!

Hey Cara! Awesome blog! I know, I should have checked this out weeks ago but I’ve been so busy! For someone who has the attention span of a fly(me) it’s so easy to read. I am excited about Green Train! And I love my “squiggly light bulbs”. My electric bill is significantly cheaper, and they last way longer than regular light bulbs! Keep up the good work.

I am all about saving the environmnet, every little bit helps. I recycle, bring my own shopping bags to the store & always keep lights off when not in the room, just to name a few things. We have a beautiful planet & nees to keep it that way. I went to Live Earth 7/7/07 at Giants Stadium, it was a great way to raise awarenenss & see great music. The more we can be informed, the better. I am looking forward to hearing more.
